About Genome Editing

Genome editing is an innovative technology that precisely rewrites the DNA sequence of an organism.

PtBio is a leader in this field, providing advanced solutions focused on industrial applications. PtBio's technology solves the challenges of traditional genome editing methods, resulting in a more efficient, safer, and compliant approach.

The Value of PtBio's Genome Editing

PtBio's genome editing technology is characterized by high performance and broad applicability. FirmCut Platinum TALEN and ZF-ND1 enable highly accurate and efficient editing, with applications ranging from biopharmaceutical development, breeding in the agricultural and food industries, environmental biotechnology, and regenerative medicine.

In addition, a streamlined licensing structure and patent avoidance technology reduce total cost and minimize legal risk.

Moreover, comprehensive support by a team of experts with a wealth of experience and knowledge provides strong backup for business development and research and development.

This will contribute to the further development of the biotechnological field.

Why PtBio's Genome Editing is chosen?

World-class technological capabilities and innovative technology development through industry-academia collaboration

PtBio is a start-up company founded at Hiroshima University with the genome editing tool Platinum TALEN, the result of CTO Takashi Yamamoto's (Director of the Center for Genome Editing Innovation at Hiroshima University) research, as its core.

Yamamoto is a top runner in the field of genome editing, serving as vice president of the Japanese Society for Genome Editing and project leader of the national projects, OPERA and COI-NEXT.

PtBio bridges the gap between cutting-edge academic research and industrial applications, and has established a system that enables us to promptly reflect the latest research results in technological development. We also collaborate with research facilities and expert personnel at Hiroshima University to develop products and services based on a deep understanding of the needs of both academia and industry, thereby providing solutions that are both reliable and practical.

Proprietary high-precision genome editing technology

FirmCut Platinum TALEN, PtBio's flagship technology, features superior DNA binding with cyclic repeats, fewer off-targets, and high safety.

It also has a higher cleavage efficiency than conventional FokI, enabling more precise and efficient genome editing.

Platinum TALEN*1, which has particularly excellent binding properties, has been successfully used for genome editing in a variety of organisms and cell types*2*3, proving its wide range of applications. Furthermore, we are constantly working on the development of cutting-edge technologies, such as the next-generation tool ZF-ND1, which is designed for drug discovery applications, to achieve continuous technological innovation.

Optimized solutions for industrial applications

PtBio's technologies are optimized to meet a wide range of customer needs, from basic research in the laboratory to large-scale industrial applications.

We have adopted a flexible licensing system that enables industrial applications with inexpensive licensing fees and reduces legal risks by developing technologies that can avoid CRISPR/TALEN patents. This makes CRISPR/TALEN applicable in diverse fields, such as biopharmaceutical development, agriculture and food industry, environmental biotechnology, and regenerative medicine, and is characterized by its broad applicability.

It can be optimized to meet the characteristics and goals of each project, and can be customized to meet the needs of each client. Furthermore, our experienced team of experts is ready to provide comprehensive support from technology introduction to experimental design, data analysis, and interpretation of results.
