Data-driven breeding of Red shiso (digital breeding)

Data-driven breeding of Red shiso (digital breeding)

Mishima, Hiroshima University and PtBio

Using the latest DNA analysis technology, we are unraveling genome sequence information to improve varieties and search for new functions and genes.

Gene therapy for rare diseases of the eye

Gene therapy for rare diseases of the eye

VC Gene Therapy, Hiroshima University and PtBio

We are currently developing a gene therapy for retinitis pigmentosa, for which an effective treatment has not yet been established, with the aim of realizing a gene therapy for medical applications.

Eggs you can eat, even if you are allergic to eggs.

Eggs you can eat, even if you are allergic to eggs.

Kewpie, Hiroshima University, Sagamihara National Hospital and PtBio

Egg allergy sufferers should be able to eat eggs. This is the reason why researchers are working on the development of allergy-reduced eggs in which obomucoid, one of the causative agents of allergy, is removed.

Turning food waste into an effective resource

Turning food waste into an effective resource

Yanmar Holdings, Hiroshima University and PtBio

We are analyzing the bacterial flora of food waste and other fermented products by metagenome analysis, and are promoting initiatives aimed at effective utilization and high value-adding of unused organic materials that lead to food production based on resource recycling.

Improving efficiency of human waste treatment facilities with Bio-DX

Improving efficiency of human waste treatment facilities with Bio-DX

Higashihiroshima City and PtBio

In cooperation with the city of Higashi-Hiroshima, we are implementing the “Bio-DX” technology, which uses metagenome analysis to visualize the relationship between the seasonally fluctuating load and the microorganisms at the human waste treatment facility, with the aim of improving the facility's operating efficiency and reducing electricity consumption.

Carbon recycling with microalgae

Carbon recycling with microalgae

Tsuneishi Kamtecs and PtBio

We are working to create an outdoor mass culture system using Nannochloropsis, a microalgae that produces useful substances from carbon dioxide, and to realize a carbon-recycling society by utilizing "Bio-DX" technologies such as gene expression analysis.
